Writers research cooking recipes and Bradford’s legacy

Bradford Food Stories explores old recipes, school dinners, family meal memories and some of the city’s first restaurants.

Sessions are hosted online by Bradford-born writers Sharena Lee Satti and Abda Khan.

The work will then be showcased at a special event in the Town Hall Banquet Hall on December 3.

Special guests include chef Waqar Mughal, third generation of the Sweet Center family restaurant, and Irene Lofthouse, poetactor and director.

Sharena Lee Satti said: “Bradford is well known for its beautiful cuisine, but there are so many stories that go untold.

“This project really reveals hidden stories to them, the love of food passed down through cultures and family, through memories and experiences.”

Abda Khan added: “The scope of the project is wide. It’s not only about food, but also about society, gender, history, sustainability, environment and much more. An event not to be missed!”

Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
